After the Fall

by raince

A step forward despite the weight

Struggling to lift my shoulders up high

After years of being in this state

My thoughts echoed: how to survive

Pulled down in this cold concrete I lay

Filled with filth, I smell of sweat

Not going anywhere in dismay

Stuck in this void, waiting for death

Even before I get gnawed up by misery

Light shot up, enveloping the sky

Helping me to recover from the injury

From broken bones and blind eyes

Conscious again, I gained back my sense of sight

To absorb the world in all its angles

Another step forward marked the journey in light

Never alone and never entangled.
